When does a collector turn into a hoarder?

And great Q&A with the LA Times about MESS. And what a photo, by Pulitzer Prize winner Carolyn Cole.

I’ve been reading Mess and have found its insights valuable. I have my own struggles with accumulating stuff. Much of it is postcards and other travel mementos, including postcards from other people’s trips. Much of the ephemera I collect is meant to be used for possible artworks as inspiration or incorporated material. Mr. Yourgrau speaks of the loss of an item as the loss of a possibility or a memory, so it is with me. I look forward to finishing the book and getting my own psychological and household act together.
